Sydney’s Palm Beach is one of the most iconic beaches in Australia. Only an hour’s drive north of Sydney CBD, and you’ll be in paradise. The stunning crescent-shaped suburb of Palm Beach has two sides. The ocean side is perfect for surfing, beachfront stays and celebrity spotting. While the Pittwater side, offers calm waters and secluded luxury accommodations. No matter where you are in Palm Beach, you can enjoy the incredible sun, surf and sand.

1. Celebrity Spotting
The golden sands of Palm Beach have graced televisions across the globe for more than thirty years. Used as the backdrop of Australia’s long-running TV soap Home and Away, Palm Beach (or “Summer Bay” to all the Home and Away fans out there) has become a hot spot for celebrities.
Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Patkay, supermodel Elle McPherson, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, the late David Bowie, John Cleese, and everyone’s two favourite queens – the Queen of England and Beyonce – have all holidayed at Palm Beach. And let’s be honest, anything that’s good enough for Queen Bey, is good enough for the rest of us.

2. Luxury Accommodation
There are more luxury properties to choose from at Palm Beach than almost anywhere else in Australia. To help my that choice a little easier, here are our favourites.
Beachfront Luxury
At the southern, prestigious end of Palm Beach is, Beachfront Luxury. As the name suggests this luxury villa is both luxurious and by the beach. Spread across three glorious levels, this accommodation offers unparalleled views overlooking the ocean, a newly renovated heated pool, a living area and private balcony on each level and space for the whole family.
Beachfront Luxury | Palm Beach | 5-Bedroom | From AU $2,286 | 7-Nights

Rockridge
Rockridge is an updated 1940s Palm Beach villa offering the perfect romantic escape or family holiday. A favourite of former Miss World Australia, Erin Holland, this stunning residence offers magnificent ocean views, a sultry stone fireplace, and a lush setting by the beach. You’ll be welcomed to Rockridge with a bottle of bubbles, perfect for sunset indulgence.
Rockridge | Palm Beach | 4-Bedroom | From AU $17,500 | 7-Nights

Private Floating Villa
Head to the tranquil surrounds of Lilypad Palm Beach for a private stay in a floating villa. You’ll be welcomed with a tasting plate and bottle of champagne – there’s no better way to stay a holiday. The villa offers hand-crafted itinerary experiences including a picnic on Portuguese Beach, surfing lessons at Palm Beach, and in-house massage treatments.
Private Floating Villa | Palm Beach | 1-Bedroom | From AU $84,000 | 7-Nights

3. Whale Watching
Sydney’s whale watching season runs from May to November each year. Some choose to head out on boats* to see these majestic ocean giants up close, but in Palm Beach there is no need to disturb their migration. Watch the whales make their epic journey from two of our favourite locations in Palm Beach. Just remember to bring a wide lens camera or some binoculars if you want a closer look.
Barrenjoey Lighthouse, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park
For those who like a hike, head to Barrenjoey Lighthouse in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park for your whale watching adventure. From the lighthouse, experience unparalleled views over Broken Bay and the Central Coast. There is no better reward for a quick hike than whale watching and panoramic ocean views.
Bigola Beach, Palm Beach
Bilgola Beach is a 15-minute drive from Palm Beach. Usually quieter than some of the other beaches in the Palm Beach area, Bilgola Beach can be a great place to spot dolphins and whales during their migration season. Get a better vantage point by heading up the hill to Bilgola Lookout, where you can take in the sweeping views of Bilgola Beach and Avalon Beach.
