Emerald City sparkles at The Albert in Mosman, Sydney

Slip on your red shoes and be transported into another world, the world of Mosman, Sydney. A world where balsamic vinegar is swapped for Verjuice. A world of boater hats and blue blazers. A world of private planes and Ferraris. And into this world is born The Albert. A divine hotel that epitomises what our Emerald city is all about. Crossing the bridge. The Albert has its own mini bridge – one made from perfectly laid sisal that transports a guest from the majestic original side of the hotel, once a virtual twin to Boronia House to the complementary newly built side of the hotel.

The Albert – Luxurious boutique hotel

In total both renovated and new rooms of this luxurious boutique hotel numbers twenty-six. I stayed in the penthouse, which was sumptuously furnished with a custom-made Sealy bed. This bed was so comfortable it took me seconds to fall asleep rather than spending dreary wee hours that I succumb to at home trying to slumber.

The specially made bed is available through Emerald City Hotels and I am truly considering buying one. A queen mattress will set me back $1749 or a super king at $2805 but for that amazing night’s sleep it is worth the investment. The bed is fitted with pure cotton sheets and a silver knitted throw, there’s a lush view to the Mosman date palms from both the bed and the large balcony.

The umbrella brand of the hotel is Emerald City Hotels and this theme is carried through from the divine green uniforms of the staff – I truly felt I had stepped into the land of Oz through to the green tiles in the bathroom. These tiles are complemented with copper his and her showers and a full-sized bath with decadent smelling salts. The shower shelf is home to three big bottles of Leif products. The Lemon Myrtle, Sandalwood and Eucalyptus smelt so good I was inspired to have a slightly longer shower purely to imbibe in the fragrance.

‘Once upon a time in Mosman’

The penthouse offers a microwave, mini bar, and an iron and ironing board. There are two smart TVs so simple to work that even I could tune it to watch a rerun of MAFS that I had missed. The colours are subdued concrete greys, whites and a dash of emerald.

Besides the incredible balcony there is a fantastic dining terrace where breakfast is served or drinks and canapes. No Mozzie breakie is complete without smashed avo on the menu and dah-ling this is the best. I felt like one of the beautiful people sipping my tea on the white cane chair with a banana palm shading me from the Cremorne refugees. If you’ve watched ‘Once upon a time in Mosman’ you’ll know all about those Cremornians trying to cross over the border.

Complimentary Tim Tams

Jean-Claude Branch runs a tight ship with nothing being too much trouble. He had even stashed a vegan chocolate into my mini-bar along with soy milk and almond milk for my tea. Bliss. There are also Australian Tea Tonic tea bags, Bay Coffee from Neutral Bay and complimentary Tim Tams – yes you heard it correctly. Complimentary Tim Tams. I am sold. It is details like these that have me throwing away my red shoes and saying this is my new home.
