A review of the luxury Star Grand Hotel
The Star on Broadbeach Island
The Star Grand has increased its razzle-dazzle after $75 million was spent on a major facelift of this iconic hotel. Located on Broadbeach Island, The Star connects to the Gold Coast Highway, Broadbeach via a bridge. The tram service to Surfers Paradise is close by and the beach is a 15 minute walk away.
The rooms breathe opulence with their high-tech touches including controls to open the curtains showcasing a hinterland or an ocean view. The beds are soft and toasty as a warm marshmallow. There are all the usual suspects of a five star hotel, smart TV, minibar, bathrobes and slippers, and a coffee pod machine.
The bathrooms have dual rain showerheads and hand-held shower, Appelles products, and another decadence – a pillow menu.

Those who like their alcohol with a side of cricket or rugby or soccer should head over to the Sports Bar or for a Japanese Bar experience try Kiyomi Bar. Finally, there’s an outdoor bar aptly named Outdoor Bar at Garden Kitchen & Bar.
There are the requisite pool cabanas by a heated swimming pool, a pool bar with snack menu, and two whirlpool tubs. The gym has everything you would ever want from personal training to classes for yoga, spin, pilates, boxing, and more.
The spa at the Star is the place to head for some indulgent treatments created by Babor and Li’tya. Azure Spa & Fitness offers six treatment rooms and an exclusive outdoor cabana.
The Star Gold Coast has introduced new apartment-style accommodation to its iconic Broadbeach property for the very first time with the opening of The Star Residences – Tower 1 in July this year.
