BridgeClimb Sydney Launches ‘Climb with a Comedian’

High Anxiety Meets High Hilarity: BridgeClimb Sydney Launches ‘Climb with a Comedian’
In what may be the most delightfully deranged idea since someone suggested yoga with goats, BridgeClimb Sydney has announced the second instalment of its charity series, Climb With and this time, they’ve added comedians. Yes. Actual comedians. On top of a bridge.
To celebrate 20 years of the Sydney Comedy Festival, five brave (and possibly slightly unstable) comedians will be strapped into harnesses and sent up the Sydney Harbour Bridge not as a punishment, but as part of ‘Climb with a Comedian’, a brand-new experience combining dizzying views, desperate gasps for breath, and well-timed punchlines delivered from 134 metres above sea level.
It’s part guided tour, part stand-up show, part therapy session, and all in aid of ActionAid Australia, which supports women and communities around the world. So it’s good for your soul, even if it’s slightly less good for your knees.
Five Climbs. Five Comedians. One Mild Panic Attack.

From May 6 to May 15, five comedians, each equipped with charm, jokes, and possibly a quiet fear of heights, will lead a select group of 13 climbers on a once-in-a-lifetime high-altitude gig. You’ll ascend the Bridge’s iconic steel arches while being regaled with stories, stand-up, and possibly some nervous laughter if the wind picks up.
Each Climb kicks off at 9:10am, which, while painfully early for comedy, does ensure that no one’s drunk yet.
The Comedian Line-up for BridgeClimb

David Correos – the sort of comedian who might actually try cartwheeling up the arch.
Celine from Titanique (aka Marney McQueen) – expect high notes, high hair, and possibly high drama
Bob Downe – sequinned suits and sunshine in human form.
Elouise Eftos – whip-smart, fearless, and perfectly capable of roasting a climber mid-ascent.
John Cruckshank – dry wit, deadpan delivery, and very likely to comment on your climbing technique.
The Experience: Like a Stand-Up Show on a Wobbling Ladder

The Climb itself is a 2.5-hour adventure along the Summit Insider route, led by a professional Climb Leader (who presumably has emergency chocolate in their pocket), peppered with fascinating bridge facts and whatever tangents the comedian feels like exploring. You’ll finish with a photo at the Summit, framed by Sydney’s glorious skyline and the distinct gleam of “I didn’t die and I got a joke out of it” in your eyes.
And because Australians can’t resist a bit of merch, every ticket includes:

- A signed photo with the comedian
- A BridgeClimb cap (which you will wear proudly)
- A certificate, which you may frame, laminate, or use to prove to your children that you were once fun
All for $349, every cent of which goes to ActionAid Australia. So technically, it’s charity work. In a harness. Above traffic.
Book Fast – Before Someone Comes to Their Senses

With group sizes limited to 13 (for intimacy, not superstition, they claim), this is bound to sell out faster than a front-row seat at Bob Downe’s next show. So if you’ve ever dreamed of laughing until you cry while wearing a full-body harness, your moment has arrived.

Laughter is the best medicine. Unless you’re afraid of heights. In which case… bring a Panadol.
