Tokyo’s most lavish hotels

Australians are flocking to Japan whether it be for enchanting snowfalls and powder skiing, canopies of cherry blossoms, or rich autumn colours. Tokyo is usually the first stop and a must to spend time in. Think steamy onsens, shopping in Ginza, matcha matcha matcha, shrines, and culinary offerings. Tokyo is a destination that really is like no other so for a lavish stay in this futuristic city, try one of our favourite hotels.

Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills

Andaz has one of the best bars in Tokyo. Set on the top (52nd) floor on a semi open-air terrace, the views over this neon city stretch all the way to Tokyo Bay. Try the tea-infused cocktails for a very contemporary Japanese experience. The tea experience even extends to the AO Spa with treatments that use green tea leaf cosmetics. Next to the Rooftop Bar there is an eight-seat sushi counter or if you want a patisserie or burger, these are on offer at street level.

The rooms in the hotel are large. On levels 47 – 50, the views are unsurpassed. Rooms in the skyscraper’s rounded corner offer five floor-to-ceiling windows curving around the room.

This stylish hotel is one for fans of Lost in Translation to drool over. Located from the 39th to the 52nd floors in Shinjuku, the décor is elegant and timeless. If you’re lucky you may get a view of Mount Fuji but otherwise, Shinjuku is still worth gazing over with a glass of bubbles in hand.

High above on the 47th floor is the Park Hyatt’s iconic pool and the divine spa is just two floors below. Spas in Japan mean all clothes off and a shower before entering. To really experience Japanese culture, the spa is a must and you can dip into the pool afterwards for a bit of Wim Hof method.

The hotel is flawless from the bergamot fragrance in the Aesop toiletries through to the side beds with tucked ironed sheets. Staying here and living out your lost in translation fantasies is pretty special.
